The EM7604-C7 is an ultra-low power circuit integrating a 32.768 kHz tuning fork crystal and an advanced CMOS oscillator circuit assembled in specifically designed C7 small ceramic package. This devices combines excellent oscillator stability and very low power consumption of about typ. 300 nA with a wide voltage operating range from 1.2V to 5.5V. Besides the standard temperature range between -40°C to +85°C, the device is also available for an extended temperature range up to +125°C.
The ultra-low power advanced CMOS oscillator circuit EM7604 used in EM7604–C7 clock generator is also available as stand alone quartz-oscillator circuit. The circuit is available in a small SOT23-6 package and can be combined with any tuning fork quartz e.g. a low-cost 32.768 kHz SMD quartzes available from Micro Crystal or other suppliers, and is especially compatible with crystals with high series resistance.
The EM7604 package can replace standard quartzes as a solution to limitations of miniaturization. It is also a convenient solution when application difficulties arise with quartz or on-chip embedded oscillators or both. It can be also simply an external input clock driver for one or more microcontrollers or other ICs in a system
